![]() ![]() It was quite refreshing to see this as a lot of books I’ve read, while not exactly non-consensual, have this sense of forced urgency and intensity with someone who is not yet comfortable with sex, which is hot but also pretty weird in reality. It made me feel like Bonny really valued Valentine and his willingness to be patient was actually lovely. Bonny went so slow and didn’t force anything, letting them both get more comfortable with each other. However, the one thing I liked was Bonny’s total patience and understanding with Valentine since Valentine was so inexperienced both romantically and sexually. ![]() I found most of the characters annoying, the writing to be repetitive and uninteresting, and by the end I really didn’t care what happened so I gave up. Full disclosure: I couldn’t finish this book. ![]()

![]() ![]() Along her journey, Tress encounters a talking rat, a crew of reluctant pirates, and plenty of danger. Luckily, Tress is kindhearted, resourceful, and curious-which also makes her an appealing heroine. Ships protected by spore-killing silver sail these seas, and it’s Tress’ quest to find a ship and somehow persuade its crew to carry her to a place no ships want to go, to rescue a person nobody cares about but her. ![]() Verdant spores explode into fast-growing vines if they get wet, which means inhaling them can be deadly. The seas on Tress’ world are dangerous because they’re not made of water-they’re made of colorful spores that pour down from the world’s 12 stationary moons. ![]() To do that, she’ll have to get off the barren island she’s forbidden to leave, cross the dangerous Verdant Sea, the even more dangerous Crimson Sea, and the totally deadly Midnight Sea, and somehow defeat the unbeatable Sorceress. Charlie, meanwhile, has been captured by the mysterious Sorceress who rules the Midnight Sea, which leaves Tress with no choice but to go rescue him. When the duke realizes the two teenagers are falling in love, he takes Charlie away to find a suitable wife-and returns with a different young man as his heir. Charlie is the son of the local duke, but he likes stories more than fencing. Tress is an ordinary girl with no thirst to see the world. A fantasy adventure with a sometimes-biting wit. ![]() ![]() Was the writing of this memoir opportunistc ? Perhaps it was. Our memories are filled with errors, interpretations, fears, desires and if you add in a measure of trauma, naivete and neglect then what actually happened and what one understands can be two vastly different things. ![]() Feldman is completely truthful but none of us is. Please don't get me wrong I am not saying that Ms. Feldman has already been through so much, does she need to go through life having her character and well-being under constant assault. I do not judge their protectiveness harshly, its just that, Ms. Others are envious of her freedom and for others it may trigger their own guilt and shame. Some of them believe in the divinity and peacefulness of their way of life. I do not blame the community for reacting in this way. Feldman into quiet submission of her experiences and opinions and thoughts. It includes the classic Harper Lee novel To Kill A Mockingbird, one of Lucy’s favourite books. It’s the summer before high school starts and friends Lucy, Elena and Michael just got their holiday reading list. I liked the cover and the sound of it, it seemed like a thoughtful book. They plan controversial ways to get people to read the book, including re-shelving copies of the book in bookstores so that people think they are missing and starting a website committed to “destroying the mockingbird.” Their efforts are successful when all of the hullabaloo starts to direct more people to the book. So they hatch a plot to get the entire town talking about the well-known Harper Lee classic. But not everyone in their class shares the same enthusiasm. ![]() When Lucy, Elena, and Michael receive their summer reading list, they are excited to see To Kill A Mockingbird included. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() For the most part, this is not a negative. There are lots of situations and conversations and discussions with occasional activity/action thrown in. That said, the plots in each of the books are relatively compact - i.e. no society could survive in worlds dominated by even "heros" who are somewhat craven - much less so many people with less than zero humanity in them. This series is dominated by mostly positive character development that feels more realistic. So many authors these days create a collection of one dis-likable character after another. There are a few irritating tendencies like the overuse of phases like "perfect bow," but overall the series has been enjoyable. The same chapter can switch between the viewpoints of different characters for the same events. Another oddity of the writing is that as the books proceed, no standard narrator or point of view device is used. It is a little problematic in the last three books as references to the plot in the Sun Sword series as somewhat frequent. There's no impact at all in the 1st three books as there's no reference to events that technically happen in the future. A 2nd group of six books (not on Audible) called The Sun Sword (under the name Michelle Sagara) sit between the 1st three books and the last three books of House War. My understanding is the 1st three books start the plot. The oddity of this series is that it was written/released out of order.
